EMDR Level 1 - Armenia

Two weeks ago, my colleague Dagmar Jenkner and I had the pleasure of teaching Level 1 of the EMDR children's curriculum in Armenia - it was a celebration on many levels.

Besides the impressions of a diverse country with a rich history, but also a rich history of trauma and violence, with a tiny middle class, a large discrepancy between rich and poor, and yet one of the safest countries in Europe, I was impressed by the colors, the architecture, the history alongside modernity, the food and wine, but above all by the motivation of my colleagues.

Some had been waiting for this training for over five years, and their interest in learning, trying things out, and applying the techniques was palpable throughout. And thanks to my outstanding interpreter, who is not only fluent in English and Armenian but also a psychologist, communication was seamless on all levels (content-related, cultural, professional, and personal).

The EMDR Psychotherapist Association of Armenia not only made this course possible and organized it superbly, but the instructors also made it a truly wonderful experience for me and Dagmar Jenkner. We are already looking forward to part 2.
